On June 2, Thursday, Hyundai presented its new Creta crossover in Saint Petersburg. Production of this model will be launched in the third quarter of this year. The new model is adapted to the Russian roads and climate: it has a high clearance. Additionally, the model has stability control system (ESC) and a tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Some experts believe that the new model has filled a gap in the Hyundai product range. The car will become a worthy competitor to many foreign brands, including Renault Duster and the Kaptur model which has recently appeared on the market.
The model began to be developed one and a half years ago when several prototypes of Hyundai appeared. At that time, the company was adapting them for the Russian market actively. For example, the three-week test run from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg was carried out, when the cars drove more than 10,500 km.
The engineers involved in the development of the new product have adapted the machine to the Russian reality, i.e. to a long cold weather and bad roads. They created suspension and steering system taking into account the bad road carpet. Thus, the clearance has been increased to 190 mm, and the engines have been upgraded with the rapid start function which allows starting an engine even at -30 degrees. The Hyundai Creta is complete with the heating system of steering wheel, front and rear seats, and the emergency response system ERA-GLONASS in case of an accident.
The cost of this new South Korean model hasn't been announced yet. It will be revealed only on July 1. The Hyundai managers believe that the potential buyers of this model are men at the age of 25-45, married and with children. The new model with suit both the demanding drivers and those who are looking for a cheap purchase.
